Hi Jackson, some general feedback below.
To help contrast text and find a colour balance with objects I use a colour picker (like - https://www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_picker.asp). Also, finding a font that will work with your user persona in mind will also add to your project.
Easy to navigate and understand. I like hand drawn graphics for uniqueness. Good luck!
Tom
Thanks for the feedback Tom, Font seems to be a common feedback element.

Hello Jackson, here is my advanced feedback regarding your eBook.
Advanced Feedback
Colours:
You use appropriate colours. It is easy to distinguish between foreground, background and UI. I think you should use two more colours to make it a little bit easier to read the text on the buttons and the page. Don’t get me wrong, it is not bad, it just does not feel that right to read.
Sprites: It looks like you have drawn the sprites by yourself. I really like that. They are perfect for your eBook and match the theme of it.
Consistency:
Your eBook provides consistency via the layout of your buttons. The navigation buttons are always where I would expect them to be. What I am missing is the use of icons to easier understand your UI. I think this eBook is directed to children; they might just want to hear the narrator and press the next button without thinking too much after this.
Navigation / UI:
Your story uses linear navigation, which makes sense because we look at an eBook. It is easy to follow the story. But it looks like there is something wrong with your first site. I can not see any buttons on the homepage. What I am missing is the possibility to mute the sound.
Target Audience:
I think your target audience is children. Your sprites are friendly, and the background sound is calm.
Text:
Your text is easy to read, and I really like this poem. I would like to see a different font for the UI and the page text. You also could give your text a waveform to help create an atmosphere.
Feedback:
There is not much feedback in your eBook. The only one I could notice was the feedback when pressing a button with the press animation. I would like to have feedback when I hover over the buttons. And there is sound missing for actions I am doing.
User Experience:
This eBook does not have that much, but one thing that really improved the UX instantly is your choice of background sound. It directly brought me into a great atmosphere.
General Feedback:
I like your eBook even if it is not finished. It has its own charm with your self-drawn sprites and this awesome background music. And I think you clearly know what you currently have to improve. One thing I would recommend you to do is that the sound does not start over again if you go to the next page. Every time the best part of the music started, I was finished with the page.
Cheers
G.
Hi Giona,
You make an excellent point about the music timing; I hope my narration in the first half of the song fills in the build up of the music. As the music climaxes, the user should be up to interacting with the interactive triggers on the page.
Thank you for your feedback.
Thanks for the awesome feedback Chloe, has really changed the direction of what I initially was going to do. I was going to use 3D free assets, but I think I might create my own assets out of these drawings now
